Jackson, Mich. — The Jackson Area Career Center is holding their 15th annual Plant Sale this Saturday, May 6 and next Saturday, May 13 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Career Center, 6800 Browns Lake Rd.
Students have been growing plants in their greenhouse since February and it’s time to get them out into the community.
Jason Gehrke, Agriscience Instructor for 17 years, says the sale gets pretty busy but they keep people moving through quickly. Plants are also affordable. “The proceeds all go to the kids and help paying for scholarships we do, and field trips,” says Gehrke.
They have a variety of plants from hanging baskets to pots and even vegetables and herbs.
The Agriscience program at the Career Center teaches about animals in the fall, and moves on to plants in the springtime. Gehrke says it’s a great way for the students to learn about where their food comes from, from start to finish.
