A water main repair from the City of Jackson will close a busy street Monday morning. The City’s Department of Public Works is closing W. Morrell Street from First Street to Fourth Street today to repair a water main valve.
W. Morrell Street is a major street that cuts across the southern half of the City of Jackson, connecting residential neighborhoods and commercial districts. The closure is expected to begin at 7am and conclude in the late afternoon hours the same day. The DPW says residents in the closure area could experience discolored water or low water pressure while the repair is taking place.
The City says that the water is safe to use and discoloration often disappears within a short time. This three block stretch of W. Morrell Street will be closed to all through traffic. A detour will be posted.
