Jackson County, Mich. — A car crash in Rives Township Saturday night left two in critical condition after a 16-year-old driver from Jackson attempted to pass a vehicle on the left, hitting another vehicle that was attempting to turn onto the road.

Police responded to Rives Eaton Road near Darling Road around 10 p.m. on April 22.

According to officials, the turning vehicle was driven by a 34-year-old Rives Junction resident who suffered minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

The 16-year-old’s vehicle, however, overturned and ejected both passengers, who were transported to Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson and then transferred to University of Michigan Hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
