The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says that an E-Z Pass text message phone scan has been going around. If you receive a text message claiming to be from E-Z Pass and that you have an outstanding toll balance, do not go to the website, do not open the link or copy it to your browser, etc.
The text will claim that if you do not pay the balance by a certain date, you will face penalties or legal action. This is a scam. The Sheriff’s Office advises those who receive this to delete the text and report it as junk.
