John Denney, longtime Superintendent at Hanover-Horton Schools has announced that he is stepping down following this school year.

Denney made his intentions known to school board members near the start of the school year, yet no formal announcement was made at that time. Denney was hired in 2010 as High School Principal, then was promoted to Superintendent in 2013.

Mrs. Denise Bergstrom, current Middle School Principal, has emerged as the only internal candidate to replace Denney. Bergstrom will be formally interviewed for the position at a special meeting Monday, December 11th at 5 p.m. The public is welcomed to sit in on that session.

The board is likely to consider two options at that meeting: hire Bergstrom, or expand their Superintendent search. Denney joined WKHM Wednesday morning, stay tuned for more.
