Jackson, Mich. — The downtown Jackson YMCA completed its Capital Campaign for “reimagined use” of its current facility at 127 W. Wesley St. in 2022, having raised a record-breaking $25 million in pledges and contributions to the project. This is the largest amount for a Y in Michigan’s history, according to a recent statement.
Bids for subcontractors are now being accepted for the project, headed up by Granger Construction. All interested parties are encouraged to reach out to Granger Project Manager Kyle Oberdorf at koberdorf@grangerconstruction.com to be included in distribution of bidding documents which are on target to be published February 24, 2023. Bids will be due on March 17, with construction anticipated to begin May 1.
“We are on schedule for a May Groundbreaking event and beginning of construction,” said Shawna Tello, Jackson YMCA CEO. “Specific dates will be announced in coming weeks.”
Donations can still be made to the Y’s Capital Campaign. For more information visit www.JacksonYMCA.org or contact Shawna Tello.
