Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A Jackson man is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing another man during a dispute.
74-year-old Wilbur Heard was arraigned Monday for assault with intent to murder following a Sunday night stabbing in Summit Township. Authorities say Heard was arguing over money when a 54-year-old man stepped in to intervene. That’s when Heard allegedly pulled a pocketknife and stabbed him multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
The victim was rushed to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in serious condition but is now stable after emergency surgery. Witnesses identified Heard, who fled on foot. A police K-9 tracked him to a building on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. where officers arrested him without incident.
Heard’s bond is set at $250,000 and his next court date is April 11. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
