A skydiver died at a parachuting event at the Grand Haven Memorial Airport, Saturday.

The 33 year-old man was in the parachuting phase of the skydive when he was forced to make a sharp turn to avoid colliding with another diver. This caused his parachute to collapse about 50 feet from the ground.

All skydiving activity at the airport was suspended for the rest of the day as police interviewed witnesses.
