A preliminary investigation from the Hillsdale County Sherriff’s Office determined icy road conditions to be the cause of the crash that happened in the area of the intersection of North Adams Road and North Lake Pleasant Road on New Year’s Day.

Deputies and medical crews arrived to the scene at approximately 5pm, finding the vehicle off of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, 62-year-old Victor Curtis Carpenter, lost control of the vehicle on the icy road before going into a ditch and hitting a tree. Carpenter was one of the three occupants who needed treatment for injuries as a result of the crash. A full investigation into the crash is being done by the Hillsdale County Sherriff’s Office.
