Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson Public Schools Board of Education has decided to reprimand Superintendent Jeff Beal after he accidentally sent a disparaging text message to Trustee Kesha Hamilton. The Board held another closed session on Tuesday to address complaints and accusations surrounding the incident, ultimately concluding that a reprimand was sufficient punishment.
Board Chair Pam Fitzgerald explained that separation was not considered, stating that a reprimand fits the offense. Trustee Kesha Hamilton did not participate in the closed session, citing concerns for her safety after previous threats, which she said occurred during last month’s meeting.
Public comments were mixed, with some supporting Beal and others urging the Board to impose harsher consequences. The reprimand will be added to Beal’s file for any future employers.
