Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Planned Parenthood is closing three clinics in Michigan and consolidating two others, citing the need for long-term sustainability amid looming federal budget cuts.
The closures affect clinics in Jackson, Petoskey, and Marquette. Two locations in Ann Arbor will merge. None of the three clinics scheduled to close offer in-clinic abortion services. They provide a range of care, including contraception, STI testing, pregnancy testing, and gender-affirming services.
Amber Roseboom, president of Right to Life of Michigan, responded to the news, calling the closure a “win for women and families.” She criticized Planned Parenthood’s policies, claiming they’ve prioritized politics over patient care and saying the closures reflect a failure to meet women’s needs — despite receiving hundreds of millions in federal funding last year.
Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood officials say the restructuring is a strategic move to adapt to a difficult political climate and ensure future operations.
