Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — WKHM was paid a visit by three notable names in Jackson law enforcement in the form of a conversation with former Police Chief Matt Heins, retiring Police Chief Elmer Hitt, and incoming Police Chief Chris Simpson. Chief Hitt took the time to explain why he felt now was the right time for retirement.
New chief Chris Simpson told us what his motivation was for taking up the job.
Elmer Hitt told WKHM that Chief Simpson’s experience with the JPD and the community in general helps to make the transition from one chief to the next as seamless as possible.
Simpson has also worked with the Sheriff’s Office as Undersheriff since 2020, a position he believes helped broaden his relationships with Jackson leaders.
