Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A new roundabout near Jackson County’s northern border is now open, aiming to improve safety at a crash-prone intersection.
The single-lane roundabout at Springport and Minard roads in Tompkins Township officially opened on September 12. Construction started in April, with the project costing around $558,000. Most of the funding came from federal and state grants through Michigan’s Transportation Economic Development Fund, with a small portion covered by the county’s road improvement budget. Officials hope this will reduce accidents at the intersection.
