A Lansing man accused of killing a Jackson woman in 2022 will now be tried in Jackson county after new evidence surfaced.
Gabriel Dixon, 31, was arraigned Monday on seven felony charges, including open murder, unlawful imprisonment, and multiple weapons offenses, in connection to the shooting death of Arianna Reed on September 30, 2022.
Dixon was originally charged in Ingham County, but prosecutors say new details confirm Reed was killed in Jackson County, prompting the case transfer. Police say officers responded to a gunshot report in Lansing, where they quickly located Dixon, who had a firearm. Reed was later found in a nearby parking lot and pronounced dead. Investigators believe the two knew each other.
Dixon, previously convicted on drug and firearm charges, is being held without bond and faces life in prison if convicted.
