Mother Nature has again caused havoc for the Midwest Open Ice Fishing Tournament near Brooklyn, Mich.

The tournament has been moved from Sunday, Feb. 2, to Feb. 16 due to poor ice conditions. The tournament is scheduled at Wamplers Lake near Brooklyn on Feb. 16. Anglers are looking for the eight heaviest bluegills and crappies for a total for the two-man teams. The winners will split $20,300 for a top prize.

In 2018, the tournament was won by Joe Thornburg of Vicksburg and Marc Nelson of Gobles won by one ounce to claim the big check.  More than $35,000 in money and prizes will be handed out at weigh-in at a yet-to-be-determined location. The public is welcome to attend the weigh-in and cheer on their favorite anglers. More than two dozen sponsors support the annual Midwest Open Ice Fishing Tournament. The tournament has the largest payout in the country and includes more than 160 teams from 10 states and Canada.
