A Michigan man is accused of assaulting police officers with a hockey stick during the U.S. Capitol riots on January 6th.

Federal prosecutors say that 30 year-old Marine veteran Michael Foy of Wixom was one of the most aggressive and violent rioters during the chaos, and even took a leadership role.

Police bodycam footage displays Foy assaulting police with a hockey stick.  Prosecutors say that Foy struck police at least 10 times in addition to hurling a pole with a sharpened tip before ultimately climbing through a Capitol Building window.

Foy’s smartphone contained images of rioters and damage inside the building.

Authorities say that Foy was drinking as many as ten beers as day before he was arrested at his home on January 21st.  Police located the hockey stick as well as the hat he was wearing at the time of the riot.

Foy’s request to be released on bond was denied by U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Morris, citing that he was a danger to the community.
