A man in only his underwear carjacked and assaulted a woman in Kalamazoo, Saturday.

Kalamazoo police responded to a home on a request for medical help. Dispatchers believed that violence may have happened inside the home.

When officers arrived, they saw a man in only his underwear running along the side of the street. Police were unable to stop the man, as he was running in and out of traffic, eventually forcing his way into a vehicle, assaulting the female driver and forcing her to drive.

The pursuit ended at a party store parking lot, where police were able to quickly take the 33 year-old man into custody. He faces charges of carjacking and resisting.

The woman was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
