
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A man was shot and killed by police Sunday afternoon along US-127 near Barnes Road in Vevay Township.
Around 4 p.m., a 911 caller reported a man walking the wrong way on the highway. Police say when they arrived, the man was in traffic, refused commands, and pulled out several knives. Officers tried to de-escalate the situation for several minutes before shooting him. He later died despite life-saving efforts.
One officer suffered minor injuries. The Michigan State Police is leading the investigation.
Officials confirmed the man was not handcuffed during the encounter, despite claims heard in a video circulating online.
