Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Here’s something you don’t hear every day — a zebra-donkey hybrid on the loose in Jackson County.
Early Tuesday morning, Blackman-Leoni Township police responded to reports of an unusual animal wandering near Dorrell and Portage Roads. When officers arrived, they found the animal — a “zedonk,” a zebra-donkey mix — had already made its way back to a nearby pasture.
The hybrid had escaped from a local farm known for raising these rare animals. Police say the farm is well run and wasn’t due to any neglect — just one of those things that can happen with livestock.
Officials say similar incidents have occurred before, and the animal was never a danger. Everything was safely resolved with no injuries or damage reported.
