One Lansing Police officer has been terminated and two get to keep their jobs after an internal investigation into the Baker Street arrest incident that happened back in November.
In that incident, at least 5 officers can be seen on video striking a 25 year-old man pinned to the ground while the person recording begs police not to kill him. Three officers were placed on paid administrative leave following the incident, pending an internal investigation.
The Lansing Police Department’s Internal Affairs announced that officer Alex Rojas has been terminated for escalating the situation.
Officers Alec Slobin and Morgan Schager were exonerated. In the statement, Lansing Police did not say what they discovered in their investigation that exonerated Slobin and Schager.
Lansing Police Chief Daryl Green said, “The department recognizes the negative impact this incident had on the community and is currently reviewing its related policies and training.”
