Lansing, Mich. — A Lansing-area man, who pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers with a dangerous weapon during the January 6th Capitol riot, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

A federal judge in Washington D.C. said prison time is needed for Logan Barnhart so it deters others. Before he was sentenced, Barhnart said he was bored during the pandemic and thought attending the rally would be a good excuse to get out of the house.

Federal prosecutors say Barnhart grabbed a police officer and dragged him face down into a mob where the officer was beaten. Along with prison time, Barnhart will also have t pay about $5,000 in fines and restitution.
