Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A Jackson woman originally charged with murder has taken a plea deal — and may not serve any prison time.
Klaira Mishaw, 29, pleaded no contest Thursday to being an accessory after the fact in connection with the 2023 stabbing death of 30-year-old Sebastian Igafo-Teo. Mishaw was facing a murder trial next week, but under the plea deal, she’ll likely receive probation. The judge can still reject the deal and impose prison time — but if that happens, Mishaw can withdraw her plea.
Her co-defendant, Joshua Pirtle, still faces multiple charges including open murder. He’s accused of stabbing Igafo-Teo more than 70 times during an argument last October.
Igafo-Teo’s mother called the plea offer a miscarriage of justice, saying the state failed her son.
Mishaw will be sentenced June 18. Pirtle’s trial is still pending.
