Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson’s new Chick-fil-A is off to a busy start, with long lines of cars and foot traffic since opening on Thursday. The fast food chain’s first location in the city, at 971 North West Ave., drew a steady stream of customers throughout the day, causing traffic backups that stretched to W. North Street.
Police were on site Thursday evening to direct traffic, with orange cones blocking off a lane of West Avenue to help manage the flow into the parking lot. Despite the congestion, other lanes on West Avenue remained open.
The restaurant was built on the former site of Optimist Park, a property the city sold last year for $1.5 million. Chick-fil-A is open Monday through Saturday, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with drive-thru service running until 10. You can find images of the restaurants’ first open days below.
