McKibbin Media Group, Inc. has signed an agreement with Jackson Radio Works, Inc., licensee of WKHM AM/FM and WIBM, Jackson, Michigan, to purchase its radio stations and other assets. The agreement is subject to FCC approval, and is expected to close later this year.
Susan and Bruce Goldsen, owners of Jackson Radio Works, said “we’re excited that Jamie and Katina McKibbin have this opportunity. Jamie has worked for us, most recently as our General Manager, since we purchased the stations in 1997. Now we’ll be working for him, helping him to continue the great broadcasting tradition we built in Jackson County.”
Jamie McKibbin, President of McKibbin Media Group, said “Being able to purchase radio stations to which I have dedicated 22 years of my life is a dream come true! It will be an honor to continue serving Jackson County Listeners and Clients for decades to come. I’ve been very fortunate to have great mentors like Bruce and Sue along the way to help accomplish this goal.”
The radio stations included in the sale are NewsTalk 970 AM and 101.5 FM WKHM, Jackson’s Hit Music K-105.3 (WKHM-FM), 95.9 The Power Cow (WIBM-AM, Country) and ESPN Radio 101.9 Jackson’s Sports Authority.
McKibbin resides in Jackson County with his wife Katina, a teacher in the Western School District, and their son Walker.
The Goldsens, who met 40 years ago at their college radio station and have worked together in radio for their entire lives, intend to remain active in the broadcasting industry both as consultants, inclding the McKibbin Group stations, and with future acquisitions.
