Sheriff Gary Schuette reports on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at approximately 11:17 pm, Deputies were dispatched to S West Avenue near Audubon Avenue, in the City of Jackson upon request of the Jackson Police Department.

Jackson Police Officers on the scene advised of the following circumstances:

A 911 call was received that dispatchers believed was an in progress domestic incident. Jackson Police located the vehicle that was involved in the call to 911, initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of S West Avenue near Audubon Avenue.

Jackson Police quickly identified the driver of the vehicle as 38-year-old Johnathan Debczak, a Jackson Police Officer. Jackson Police requested Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office conduct the criminal investigation into the incident.

Deputies conducted the investigation into allegations of domestic assault and operating while intoxicated. The results of the investigation led to the arrest of Johnathan Debczak. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail where he was lodged pending the issuance of charges.

On October 14, 2024, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office issued charges against Debczak for Domestic Assault, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated with an Occupant Less Than 16 Years of Age. Debczak was lodged at the Jackson County Jail until his arraignment on October 14, 2024. He was released from the Jackson County Jail on a Personal Recognizance Bond.
