
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — With the Jackson City Council rescinding their decision to implement parking meters in the downtown area, the City will continuing to fund their parking primarily through assessments. A task force has been put together by Mayor Daniel Mahoney to attempt to figure out the best course of action moving forward. According to the Mayor, the task force recently held its first meeting, which was described as “an introductory conversation” on the current parking situation. Mayor Mahoney says they have a window of time between now and the end of the fiscal year to develop a path forward.
The Mayor also gave his thoughts on how the City would handle the strain on parking that potential growth could bring.
Mayor Mahoney also advised drivers going through active construction zones to be mindful of workers in the area.
