Jackson County Sherriff Gary Schuette announces an unknown person is calling Jackson County residents and implies a bench warrant is out for your arrest, due to not appearing for a court hearing in Judge Bates courtroom and instructs you to bring/pay $1,000 to the courthouse, in gift cards.

To date, the “scam” callers have identified themselves at Detective Mark Easter and Sergeant Bryan Huttenlocker of the Jackson County Office of the Sherriff. The scam caller will provide a call back phone number that has a fictitious voice mail.

No member of Law Enforcement will ever ask for payment over the phone, send gift cards, money or checks to avoid arrest on any charges. Tell the scam caller that you are calling 911. An active investigation is being conducted.
