According to the most recent Michigan DNR survey from 2022, both the number of hunters and the amount of deer harvested dropped in 2022 however there has been an increase in donated deer meat. Through local food banks the survey concluded there was an increase of around 6 percent in donated pounds of venison, totaling over 113,000 pounds.
