Former Jackson Mayor Richard ‘Dick’ Dirlam has died at the age of 91. Mr. Dirlam was mayor in the early 1990’s, after two terms as city commissioner in the fifth ward. Dick was a graduate of Jackson High, Class of 1950, and Jackson Junior College. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he spent four years on tour of the world.

Dirlam worked at Alro Steel for 32 years and retired as a vice president in 1990. His wife of 47 years, Marvis, passed away in 2006. And wife Judith passed away in 2022 after 13 years of marriage.

Dick was an ardent Michigan football fan and loved serving the Jackson community. No public service has been planned at this time.
