A 38-year-old man caused a small explosion at America’s Best Value Inn & Suites on 830 Royal Drive just after midnight on Friday while attempting to extract THC from marijuana in the bathroom according to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety. The explosion was prompted by butane gases igniting, which left a fire in the bathroom that was quickly extinguished. The man was found with severe burns to his face and hands before he was transported to Henry Ford Hospital. There were two other people in the room, but neither individual suffered any injuries as a result of the incident.

According to the Blackman-Leoni DPS, the investigation will be forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office for review of possible charges. The Jackson City Fire Department, Summit Fire Department, and Jackson Community Ambulance assisted on the scene.
