Temperance, Mich. (WKHM) — A Michigan animal dealer has been forced to surrender over 100 exotic animals. The Justice Department came to an agreement with Zachary Keeler — owner of Even Keel Exotics in Temperance. This, after a complaint that he violated the Endangered Species and Animal Welfare acts. He’ll surrender 150 animals — including ring-tailed lemurs, wallabies and prairie dogs. He’s accused of separating a baby lemur — an endangered species — from its mother too early and then tried to sell the baby for $3,400. Keeler has agreed to never buy, sell or engage in the exotic animal business.
