Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Two emergency sirens failed to sound Sunday night during tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings. Now, county officials are investigating the issue.

Jackson County Central Dispatch says residents near South Wisner and Morrell in Jackson, and Bunkerhill Road in Pleasant Lake, reported silent sirens during the storm. While phone alerts were sent out, crews reset the system and sent another signal — it came 15 minutes late.

An inspection is scheduled this week to pinpoint the problem, as another major storm approaches. Forecasters warn of severe storms possible Wednesday.

Officials urge residents to sign up for the Genasys Project ALERT system through the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office website linked below.
