Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — Another superintendent change in the Jackson area: Steve Doerr, superintendent at East Jackson Schools for the past eight years, has resigned effective July 31, 2024.

Board president Ken Straub thanked Doerr for what he said was an “unwavering commitment to the students and the community… we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

The East Jackson School Board has already announced that East Jackson Middle School Principal Jeff Punches will take over as the new superintendent.

Punches has been with the district for nine years in a variety of capacities. Straub said, “We are excited to welcome Jeff into his new role.”
