Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Paws in the Park, one of Cascades Humane Society‘s (CHS) biggest fundraisers, is back at Cascades Falls Park this Saturday (June 3rd, 2023) starting at 10 a.m.
Heather Leszczynski, Executive Director of CHS, says there are several options for walkers and runners to participate, including children. Everyone who participates in one of the walks or runs gets a commemorative T-shirt and goody bag.
Leszczynski also says they will have more vendors than ever on-site, a low-cost vaccine clinic for dogs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., food available for purchase from the Jackson Breakfast Rotary, and many activities for all ages.
“We try every year to make this as family-friendly and dog-friendly as possible,” says Leszczynski, stating that there will be a new petting zoo this year, as well as face painting, an agility course and lure course for dogs to test their speed and abilities with the chance to win prizes.
Ultimate Air Dogs will be back with a dock diving experience for dogs to try as well. “This is where dogs will run off a dock and jump into a 35,000 gallon pool,” says Leszczynski. “The dogs are judged based on their distance into the pool,” which any dog can register for, as long as they are a good swimmer.
Funds raised at Paws in the Park all go towards the basic care of all pets in custody at CHS, which Leszczynski says goes above and beyond and they do not shy away from giving their pets extra medical attention when needed. Hear more from Leszczynski below.
