Blackman Township, Mich. (WKHM) — Detectives with the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety are investigating a shooting that happened Saturday night in the area of Page Ave. and 9th Street.

Officers say a 52-year-old woman called 911 to report her friend, a 76-year-old man with whom she resides, shot her 22-year-old son. Officers from multiple departments who responded found the 76-year-old man in the backyard, sitting in a chair with a shotgun to his chest.

When officers attempted to talk to the man, he shot himself in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene despite medical assistance being given. The 22-year-old son inside the home was also pronounced dead.

The investigation into this incident continues.
