Maurice Imhoff, 20-years-old, could be the youngest elected state official in Michigan history, if he is elected to the State House on November 8th, 2022. The Imhoff campaign suffered a major set back Tuesday, as the Detroit News reported he’d been dropped by the Democratic Party after a past threat investigation came into light.
According to the report, Imhoff was being investigated for alleged threats made to the schools he attended at the time. Imhoff had also assaulted a police officer as a minor prior to the investigation and was on probation.
It is unclear whether those close to Imhoff were aware of the allegations prior to the report, as the incidents did not appear on a background check since he was a minor at the time. WKHM reached out to Imhoff for comment but as of this report he has yet to respond.
Imhoff will face Republican Candidate Kathy Schmaltz in the November election without support from the Democrat Party or Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer who, up until yesterday’s Detroit News story, had endorsed him for the newly redrawn 45th District State Representative seat.
