A deadly crash Saturday morning in Jackson County claimed the life of a Taylor man.

Sheriff Gary Schuette says deputies were called to I-94 westbound near Mt. Hope Rd. in Grass Lake Township around 4:45 a.m. for a jackknifed semi-truck involved in a weather-related crash.

Before deputies arrived, a 2019 Silverado traveling westbound collided with the disabled semi. The driver of the Silverado, 75-year-old James Bevins from Taylor, died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by the Accident Reconstruction Team, though neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor.
