Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — A special meeting of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners will be held this morning at 9 a.m. The board is likely to vote on a jail operating millage that would be on the November ballot. Why the rush? The deadline for ballot language to make the November ballot is Tuesday at 5 p.m., so the commission must act quickly, says Chairman Steve Shotwell:
The commission is looking at a millage 0.25 mills, for 10 years. This would be for funding ongoing operating expenses of the Jackson County Jail.
