Jackson, Mich. — Loose leaf collection begins today (Monday, November 7) in the City of Jackson. Residents are urged to place their leaves in piles on the curb no more than 48 hours prior to their scheduled pick-up date(s).

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is planning two rounds of leaf collection in every section of the City through Thursday, December 8. The City is offering the following tips and reminders to residents for the most efficient and thorough leaf pick-up possible:

  • Place loose leaf piles along the curbs in the street no more than 48 hours prior to scheduled pick-up date
  • Remove vehicles, basketball hoops, and other objects from the street when collection is happening in your neighborhood
  • Stay up to date on the latest information by signing up for CodeRED, a system that gives notice of City happenings like leaf pick-up, via phone calls, emails, and text.

The City of Jackson says that placing piles of leaves on the street for extended periods of time could clog storm drains and damage pavement, and warns that if objects like vehicles are in the way, leaves will not be picked up by crews.
