Jackson, MI — Cascades Humane Society brings back their 5k and 1-mile Woof Walk to Paws in the Park on June 4, 2022, while adding new element: The Canine Stars.
Cascades Humane Society has announced the 2022 Paws in the Park, presented by Lammer’s Heating and Air Conditioning. The fun will be held again at Horace Blackman Park in downtown Jackson.
For the fourth year, Paws in the Park will feature a 5k that will be chip-timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Awards will be given to the top 3 runners in each age group, both male and female. In addition, “CHS will be celebrating the canine participants, with top dog awards given to the first 3 dogs to cross the finish line,” states Heather Leszczynski, Executive Director. The 5k will start at 10 am and participants will receive a finisher’s medal. Race packets can be picked up the night before from 5-7 pm at Horace Blackman Park or at 8 am the day of the event. A shorter 1-mile Woof Walk is also available. Registration for both the walk and the run includes a Paws in the Park 2022 T-shirt and a goodie bag featuring sponsors.
New this year, Cascades Humane Society is bringing The Canine Stars to give several performances on Friday and Saturday. The Canine Stars are a world-class entertainment and educational dog show. These professional dog trainers and their rescued dogs have perfected their act with eye-catching agility and stunts. They have performed all over the country and were even on the TV show America’s Got Talent.
In addition to the walk, run, and The Canine Stars, there will be vendors to shop, food for purchase through Jackson Breakfast Rotary Club, demonstrations by the Michigan Search and Rescue group, kid and dog activities, and a vaccine clinic to participate in. The low-cost vaccine clinic will take clients on a walk-in basis throughout the event on Saturday.
“Most importantly, this is a fundraiser for the animals in our care. Events, along with individual donations, business sponsorships, and grants keep CHS open, as we do not receive any funding from the government or state and national humane societies. Every dollar counts!” Leszczynski urges.
How can people help? “In addition to registering for the walk or the run, you can create a fundraiser page. You can create this page at any time and you don’t even need to register to do it. Update your page with why you want to help CHS and share it with your friends and family on social media. Or create a Facebook fundraiser to share. This peer-to-peer fundraising is a large part of what makes Paws in the Park successful and every dollar donated goes a long way to providing the care that every animal deserves,” says Leszczynski. CHS has created great incentives for individual and team fundraisers.
