Next week, the Michigan Supreme Court will hear arguments from both Long Lake Township and Todd Maxon, a property owner near Traverse City who was fined after using drone footage of his property to allege a zoning violation.

Maxon argues the warrantees drone surveillance violated his Fourth Amendment rights and that the government cannot legally use the photos and videos against him. The case will be argued on October 18th at Powers Catholic High School in Flint. The lower court decision ruled against Maxon, saying his was a civil matter, not a criminal case.
