Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Dr. Austin Brown from Brown’s Advanced Care Pharmacy recently joined WKHM to discuss some hot topics in the health industry. He says Covid-19 has been rearing its head again and is bound to become more prevalent as we head into the cooler months. He says we may expect to see the new Covid-19 vaccine come out as early as next week. While Covid-19 tests are no longer being supplied for free by the government, pharmacies have them readily available to purchase.

Brown advises checking the expiration date on your test, and to call your pharmacy to see if those expiration dates have been extended before throwing them out.

The new flu vaccines are also ready for this season, and there is also an RSV vaccine for adults over the age of 60. Brown says RSV has been around for quite some time and has traditionally affected children, but he is seeing an uptick in cases and recommends older adults get vaccinated to protect them from complications.
