Jackson, Mich. – Brayden Lape, the 16-year-old singing sensation from Grass Lake, finished fifth in the 22nd season of NBC’s The Voice on Tuesday night.

Lape, whose run through the competition over the last several months generated much buzz and fanfare in Grass Lake, Jackson and the entire state of Michigan, finished fifth, while country music sensation Bryce Leatherwood from Georgia won the competition.

Lape and Leatherwood were both representing coach Blake Shelton’s team. Shelton is leaving the show after being a judge for the shows entire run.

Lape is a three-sport athlete at Grass Lake High School and will join the basketball team currently in season. Baseball will be in the spring.
