Washtenaw County, Mich. — The boyfriend of a murdered teacher has been taken into custody.
Last week, deputies were asked to perform a welfare check on 48-year-old Alyson Doulos, a 10th grade English teacher at Jackson High School. When authorities made their way into Doulos’ Ypsilanti-area apartment, they found her dead.
On Saturday, her boyfriend, Charles Gamez, was arraigned on Open Murder charges. He was denied bond and is being held in the Washtenaw County Jail. He is set to appear next week.
Doulos’ memorial service was held Monday, March 20. Jackson Public Schools shared a showing of support on social media last week which read “We are Viking Strong!”
