Jackson, Mich. — After being reported missing last week, Dr. Bolek Payan, a psychiatrist with Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, was found dead under the ice of a pond near his home at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27.
Divers located the body following an extensive search including K9s, drones, and officers on foot. According to Blackman-Leoni Public Safety, detectives were able to access security footage from outside Dr. Payan’s home where he was observed leaving his residence on foot December 22.
An autopsy and toxicology test are pending, which may provide more answers regarding the doctor’s demise.
A statement on the Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Facebook page says, “We would like to thank the Jackson County Dive Team, Michigan Search and Rescue, J-DART, the neighbors, and the public for their assistance during this incident. Our thoughts are with Dr. Payan’s family and friends.”
