Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — American 1 Credit Union has purchased a building that will become its new corporate headquarters in Jackson by the end of 2025.

The building formerly housed Elara Caring at 900 S. Cooper Street in Jackson, directly across from Jackson Catholic Middle School.

President and CEO of American 1, Martha Furstenau, said “We are excited to expand our corporate operations to meet our growing needs.”

In the past year, American 1 has opened two new branches and announced three more which will open over the next year.

The new Cooper Street location, which is slated to open in late 2025, will not be a banking center. The current corporate headquarters at 718 E. Michigan Ave. will continue to provide banking services.
