Saturday December 9th, Chelsea Police responded to a report of an alleged assault that took place at a basketball game at Chelsea High School, 740 N. Freer Road at around 10:30a.m.

Officers were told an incident had taken place, superintendent Michael Kapolka confirmed there was fight and that it happened at the end of a game that was part of an ongoing tournament for middle school teams.

Neither entities would comment or confirm if the assault involved adults or students. Schedules of the tournament that were available publicly showed that teams from Pinckney, Ypsilanti and Chelsea were scheduled to play in the tourney Saturday morning.

Chelsea police are continuing the investigation and are asking that if anyone witnessed the incident to please contact them to make a statement at the Chelsea Police Department 311 S. Main Street or the can call 734-475-9122 to make an anonymous statement.
