A heads up, no Michigan’s Attorney General is not asking for personal information in emails or over the phone. A.G. Dana Nessel alerting residents that scammers are using her name and office to try scam people in a message being sent out in emails. Scammers are trying to gather personal information in exchanges for a tax refund. They note the scam emails will contain broken English, spelling errors and incorrect grammar and the emails are also being sent from an e-mail address that is not affiliated with an official government account. Nessel reminds people that the A.G.’s office nor the I.R.S. will never demand an immediate payment or ask for a payment in the form of a gift card or wire transfer.
