The City Clerk’s Office is informing registered voters in the City of Jackson that an important piece of election-related mail will be arriving in their mailboxes soon. Updated Voter Information Cards are being sent out to registered voters, providing updated precinct information.
Recent changes to State of Michigan law allowed the City of Jackson to reduce the overall number of voting precincts from 14 to 10 within Jackson’s six wards.  The City Council approved the precinct alterations late last year. The changes will reduce the amount of funds spent on elections and make elections easier to manage for City staff and poll workers.
This update has not brought any changes to City ward boundaries or polling locations. Each ward continues to have its own polling place. Voter Information Cards are useful for registered voters to understand the precincts and districts they reside in for the various levels of local, State and federal government. Voters are encouraged to keep their Voter Information Cards for future reference.
The City of Jackson currently has 24,395 registered voters. 2,601 new voters were registered in 2023.
