Friday December 8th at about 2:30 in the afternoon Jackson Police responded to a report that a JPS bus had been involved in a crash. They arrived to find that a car had rear-ended a Jackson County Public School bus at the railroad track near the intersection of High and Cooper Streets.

The bus was carrying 4 students, no serious injuries were reported in the crash. Police said further about the crash is limited at this time as the report had not yet been completed.

Personnel from Jackson Public Schools suspect the driver may have been distracted and had not noticed the bus was stopped at the tracks, which is required by law Superintendent Jeff Beal said.

Beal posted on the school’s Facebook page, “I cannot stress enough the dangers of distracted driving and am asking everyone to be careful on the roads. Remember the text can wait; we all need to be vigilant to put our phones down. Again I am relieved to report that everyone is okay.”
